Winners of Oltin Soyabon Public Award in Insurance awarded

Winners of Oltin Soyabon (Golden Umbrella) Public Award in Insurance were awarded diplomas during the "Insurance Business in Uzbekistan: Condition, Prospects and Media Coverage" Forum which was held in Tashkent on 22 May.

Oltin Soyabon is held annually and is aimed at developing the insurance business in Uzbekistan. The award ceremony is conducted based on the results of the competition based on the criteria developed by the leading experts in the field of insurance as well as the top managers of the largest Uzbek companies.

The Golden Umbrella Public Award in Insurance was founded through the joint efforts of SAIPRO Company, Public Foundation for the Support and Development of Independent Print Media and News Agencies of Uzbekistan and the Association of Professional Participants of the Insurance Market of Uzbekistan.

The contest is supported by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Inspection for Insurance Supervision under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Uzbekistan, and the leading professional participants of the insurance market of the country.

The Golden Umbrella is intended to unite the efforts of the professional insurance market participants in speeding up the development of the insurance market, creating the conditions for the formation of the modern insurance culture among the entrepreneurs and the population of the country; promoting modern insurance products in the national insurance market, ensuring the transparency of the national insurance market through the involvement of media and informational support of the insurance sector and the latest developments in the insurance business, developing the business and cultural contacts between the professional participants of the insurance market both within the country and abroad.

Professional participants of the insurance market of Uzbekistan and media actively operating in this market, as well as individuals distinguished in this sphere of activity are eligible to participate in the Golden Umbrella Award Contest. The winners are presented with the Diploma of the Award Winner. This year the following winners of Oltin Soyabon Public Award in Insurance have been determined on 2007 results.

Top nominations: "The leader by insurance activity development dynamics" – ALSKOM insurance company. Diploma handed over to the company's Director General Tohirjon Iminov. "The best innovative insurance product" - Asia Inshurans insurance company. Diploma handed over to the company's Director General Rustam Mamedov. "Informationally transparent insurance market participant" – Uzbekinvest insurance company. Diploma handed over to the company's Director General Fahriddin Saidakhmedov.

Individual nominations: "2007's manager of a professional participant of the insurance market" – Director General of Kapital Sugurta insurance company Laziz Halimtaev. "The best specialist of a professional participant of the insurance market" – Deputy Director General of Transinsurance reinsurance company Madjit Kamilov. "For personal contribution to the development of science and staff training on insurance business" – Doctor of legal science, Professor of Moscow State Institute of International Relations, head of Moscow mission of Cologne Reinsurance Society Kapitolina Turbina, author of some publications on insurance.

Additional nominations: "For the development and popularization of insurance" – Joint Editorial Board of Biznes Vestnik Vostoka and BVV Business Report newspapers. Diploma handed over to the Editor-in-Chief Svetlana Vdovina. "For the development of international relations of the insurance market of Uzbekistan" – representative office of the Asian Development Bank in Uzbekistan. Diploma handed over to the ADB mission head Hong Wei. "For personal contribution to the development of insurance and staff training" – Saidakbar Abdurahimov (awarded posthumously) organized and managed Uzbekinvest export-import insurance company, trained a lot of specialists in the field of insurance who are currently occupying leading positions in the Uzbek insurance business.
