30.11.2011

Today a seminar-conference on "Re-engineering the funding process through Automation Tools, Scoring Solutions and Credit Bureaus", organized by the International Finance Corporation and the Information-rating agency SAIPRO opened in Tashkent.

"Ladies and gentlemen, members of today's event, I welcome you all on behalf of the World Bank in Uzbekistan and its head Takuya Kamata," said Matluba Mukhamedova acting head of the World Bank office in Uzbekistan in her welcoming speech. "Currently, he is in Washington, where on December 6 a new strategy of cooperation of Uzbekistan and the World Bank for 2012-2015 will be considered. We hope that the new strategy will give a good impetus for the expansion of World Bank activities in Uzbekistan.

"Since 1992, the total amount of World Bank's financing of various spheres of Uzbekistan's economy exceeded $1 billion. But the promotion of the financial sector is in focus of the World Bank. In 2009, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), in collaboration with the Swiss government initiated a project to strengthen the financial infrastructure in Central Asia and Azerbaijan (ACAFI). One of the results of the collaboration of the Government of Uzbekistan and the project was the adoption of the Law "On the credit information exchange", which will be a good basis for moving forward.

"It would be great if the members of today's event have got new knowledge and shared their experiences with colleagues."
